It has been only a few days since the work on a remaster version of Dark Souls for PS4, XONE, Switch and Windows was announced. Despite the fact we got all the necessary info, we were still missing more detailed facts and that is something which we got now. So, let’s take a look at it.
Laura Kate Dale, a Kotaku’s news editor who already revealed an upcoming Dark Souls Remastered announcement, has come with several Tweets where she said a bit more. Probably the most interesting is the fact that PS4, XONE and Windows version is being developed by a Polish studio QLOC but there might be some minor work done by FromSoftware though. It was also mentioned that QLOC had been working on the version for almost one year so it is definitely not a studio hired only for some small stuff.
QLOC has already worked on ports of games like Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, Dead Rising HD Remaster, Ace Combat: Assault Horizon, Resident Evil 6, God Eater Resurrection and God Eater 2: Rage Burst. It also participated in the development of both DmC: Devil May Cry and Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice so it seems we do not have to worry about the quality of the resulting game. It is obvious the studio has great experience with ports and remasters development so we can expect a high-quality product.
Regarding the Switch version, no additional info was said but it is most likely that a totally different studio is working on it. But we expect we will find out more soon since the release date is quite close now.
Dark Souls Remastered will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and Windows on 25th May 2018. It has already been announced that it will be sold for $39.99.
