At the beginning of this year, we were positively surprised when a remastered version of the legendary game Dark Souls had been announced because this is the game which defines the “hardcore gaming” style. It was even more surprising when also the Switch version was confirmed while this port is being developed by Virtuos, a completely different studio compared to other platforms. Now it seems that preparation of the Switch version is more difficult than initially expected.
The game publisher Bandai Namco announced today that the release of the Switch version of Dark Souls Remastered would be delayed so the game would be released later this summer. This is mainly by the fact the developers need more time to finalize porting completely so they are postponing the release in order to be sure that “players can fully appreciate the true DARK SOULS experience anytime and anywhere, thanks to the unique portable nature of the Nintendo Switch console”.
Except for that, Bandai Namco calmed down all other players because it confirmed that on the other platforms, the game would definitely not be delayed and the release date was unaffected so these players can enjoy the remastered version in only about a month. Thus, the change is really related to only the Switch version of the game.
Dark Souls Remastered will be released on 25th May 2018 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows while the Switch version will be out later this summer.
