For a longer time, there have been rumours that Switch version of Dark Souls might be in preparation and during last days, we heard about a possible release on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 as well. An official announcement came earlier than we expected and the remastered version is real.
Firstly, the remastered Switch version was announced during Nintendo Direct. It will run in 1080p and 30 fps when the console is in TV/docked mode and it will be released on 25th May 2018. Except the game, it will contain also DLC Artorias of the Abyss and an online co-op (multiplayer) for up to six simultaneous players. The Switch version was introduced by a short teaser trailer which you can watch below.
Shortly after the announcement, the publisher Bandai Namco came with information that on 25th May, Dark Souls Remastered will be released also on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows. It will be the same version so it will contain the same DLC and the same online co-op but the owners of PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One X and Windows will have the possibility to play the game in 4K and 60 fps which sounds just great.
At the end of the day, Bandai Namco came with the third and with the last announcement. Except Dark Souls Remastered, one more special edition will be released at the same time. It is called Dark Souls Trilogy Box Set and will contain Dark Souls Remastered, Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin and Dark Souls 3: The Fire Fades Edition. On top of that, several bonuses will be included. To be more specific, a bookcase (looking like a very nice statue when put together), an encyclopaedia of the series, an image frame and 10 pieces of box arts will be part of the edition.
Dark Souls Trilogy Box Set will be available only on PlayStation 4 and the saddest thing is that it is planned to be sold only in Japan so the rest of the world can order it only in Asia. It is listed for approximately $450 which is quite high price but for all the fans, it’s definitely worth to spend some money on it. Pictures of the special edition are enclosed below at the end of the article.
