In subreddit devoted to Dark Souls: Remastered, there has appeared a thread created by user u/ArodoraaLP who shared his experience with gamers' community about the unsolvable issue. He found out that saved position could be corrupted and there is no reason why. Lately, other readers shared their experiences in subreddit with antivirus program called BitDefender, even Windows Defender, which may corrupt saved position in Dark Souls: Remastered. Several players described, synchronization saved position with, for example, Google Drive may cause problems as well. The appearance of notice "in use" caused issues preventing saving.
Afterwards, Bandai Namco made a statement about the problems with saving. The community manager, Izmar, has spoken about the whole issue on Steam.
Salutations, Chosen Undead.
Based on feedback that we have received from the community, we must warn you that some popular anti-virus software may damage Dark Souls: Remastered save files, or treat those files as if they were corrupted.
Additionally, if your computer uses a cloud sync service (e.g., Google Drive or Dropbox), it is possible for save files to be interpreted as "in use" by the system, rendering them inaccessible by the game.
In both cases, if you run into this problem, please take a moment to exclude your save files from being managed by your sync services and/or your anti-virus software.
Thank you for your kind attention.
Adding a file to the exception in your anti-virus program should work, either removing current anti-virus program and swap it with another one. Share your experiences. Do you play Dark Souls: Remastered? Does DS: Remastered attract you?
