Kingdom Come: Deliverance from Warhorse Studios is coming out tomorrow for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Due to a violation of general terms and conditions in the United Arab Emirates the copies have gotten into the hands of many people, who, according to Gadgets360, installed the game, but it was necessary to repair the game with 23,07 GB patch before the first launch. It has disturbed some of the fans of the medieval game that much, they had to share their emotions and feelings in various nooks of the internet. Why such a huge size? Marketing and PR manager of Deep Silver, Will Powers, made a statement about that.
In short, before the final release of the game, the developers had been working hard, polishing last details, that meant practically remake entire game how the code is archived.
Powers also stated that the game is handed in six weeks before the release date to distributors, which means, in the time span, developers have some time to debug the last imperfections.
Martin Klíma, the lead producer from Warhorse Studios, expressed himself about the entire circumstances around the game what exactly was happening during the 6 weeks.
"The production realities of game development mean that a ‘release’ version has to be finalized sometime before the actual release date. We could have used this time to get some rest, or we could use it to create some additional content and sell it to you as DLC, but we went back to the version-to-be-released and worked on it. The results are obvious: quests are more balanced, RPG progression is smoother, the game runs faster and every facet of the game got more polish. The drawback, of course, is that most of the data in the old build was replaced and has to be downloaded as a patch. At a hefty size, it’s going to take some time to download and it’s a shame. Still, we strongly believe that after four years wait it will pay off to wait a little bit longer while the day one patch is downloading. Trust me, it will deliver the awesome experience you deserve!”
Afterwards, Will Powers comments the situation and he firmly believes that the pronouncement will open the eyes of many people and clarify the entire situation to avoid unnecessarily and speedy conclusions. When you have ISO file size of 2 GB and then you release a patch, which must completely rewrite it, it is a problem.
Latest posts inform that the installation filled hard disk up with twice space. In the final consequence, the game will fill the hard disk with 46 GB. Powers also mentioned the patch replace original physical purchases for digital.
What will the patch 1.01 include:
- Additional several new events in open world
- Massive improvement in dialogues
- Earning money and gaining experiences is balanced
- Statistics of weapons and armours are balanced
- Combat improvements
- Quick NPC reactions
- Sound spreading adjusted
- Archery in stealth adjusted
- UI haggling improved
- Fixed bugs and improvements
It's understandable any of the buyers will be disturbed with a large size of the patch on the day of release, but I think, it is a step in the right direction. It is even better to release a game with the large patch than to be emotional about some stuff not working. Everyone who has a fast optical connection might play on the day of release. Who disposes of a slower internet connection, may download the patch 2-3 days. Patience bear fruits, so wait on the release date of this awesome medieval RPG and treat yourself passing of remarkable environment, reveal the story of Henry and take in the atmosphere of Hussitian age.
