Fans of Call of Duty have had a lot of things to discuss during past weeks. Firstly, an insider Marcus Sellars came with a statement that the newest Call of Duty episode would be called Black Ops 4. Several days later, more indices confirming the name appeared such as an inclusion of the game into an internal GameStop database or a cap with a Black Ops logo worn by James Harden. This is something Activision couldn’t stand so it came with the actual explanation.
After speculations from the last weeks, Activision decided to wait no more and come with an official announcement. We’ve just found out that all the indices were completely true so we now OFFICIALLY know that this year’s Call of Duty game is being developed by Treyarch and will be called Black Ops 4, eventually Black Ops IIII based on the logo drawing.
Except for this, we also got to know that the game would be fully revealed on 17th May 2018 and also during the E3 conference in June when more information comes. The game should be then officially released on 12th October 2018 so we now have a lot of datums which we can follow and wait for.
Regarding the possible Switch version which was predicted by Marcus Sellars, there has been nothing said about it. However, it’s nothing disappointing because it is very likely the Switch port might be prepared by a completely different studio as in case of many previously released AAA titles. So, it is still possible we will hear about this version more in the future. But for now, that’s all we know and we have to just wait what information Activision and Treyarch will share with us in May.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be released on 12th October 2018 most likely on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows. Below, you can check out the first official teaser video announcing the game.
