Fortnite, currently the most popular battle royale multiplayer game worldwide, was released also on mobile devices with iOS at the beginning of April. And since the game is successful also on mobile platforms, it’s logical that an Android version is currently in preparation as well, so it can increase the revenue even more. And as it now seems, Epic Games does not want to lose a single dollar.
Based on the source code of the official webpage of the game Fortnite, it looks like the page includes an unpublished text containing manuals and illustrative pictures of how to download the game outside Google Play including instructions referencing security permissions which need to be enabled in order to download and install games not offered directly via Google Play.
And even though this is just a pure speculation which might not be based on the truth, it seems that Epic Games is not planning to include the game on Google Play at all because when the game is downloaded via this service, 30 % of the revenue is directly given to Google. And that’s a lot of money in case of popular games such as Fornite. Well, and if we consider that this game does not need any advertisement and that millions of players don’t have a problem to download it outside the Google Play store just to play it, everything makes perfect sense. Let’s just wait how right we were until the game is officially released on Android.
Fortnite is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, Windows PC, macOS, iOS and during this year, it will be released also on Android.
