The work on a remake of the world hit Resident Evil 2 from 1998 was officially announced already in 2015 but it took the developers three years to give us the first look on the remastered version because Resident Evil 2 Remake was finally presented yesterday during Sony’s E3 conference. The video was mainly composed of CGI footage but now, we also got some new gameplay.
At this year’s E3, Sony prepared a special panel focused only on Resident Evil 2 Remake which offers a playable demo. Thanks to the stream from the conference, the demo is available also for us to watch so you can check it out below at the end of the article. New gameplay footage confirms that it’s nearly a different game because it has completely reworked and enhanced audiovisuals. At the same time, the camera newly floats over the main character’s shoulder and is much more dynamic which looks great.
The game reportedly runs on the engine of Resident Evil VII: Biohazard which is another great news. And although the demo shows only Leon Kennedy, it was confirmed the full game would also contain Claire with her own story which is something we expected but is still very good to know.
Resident Evil 2 Remake will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows on 25th January 2019.
