Sony is now talking about Nintendo Switch, and it's not a matter that's taken lightly from Sony's point of view. The Playstation 4 has had great sales, both independent consoles and consoles with PS VR. Sony admits that the Nintendo Switch is one of Nintendo's best devices that has a pretty good line of games behind it, but it has not had any impact on PS4 console sales so far. While Switch is so popular and sold for millions of this device, the Playstation 4 has had a great year.
To the whole situation, the corporate planning manager said that Switch is a factor that must be taken into account and must not leave Nintendo a free field in the gaming and console market.
"In our gaming industry, PlayStation 4 sales are strong and great, and we're heading into holiday season," he said. "But we can not ignore Nintendo Switch, which has also caught the attention of consumers. Our business model includes the sale of gaming consoles and software, so we work to make more subscribers pay for subscriptions and related content, for example through paid subscription services."
What is unclear, but it is at least obvious that Sony recognizes Nintendo Switch as a legitimate competitor on the market, and Sony will try to fight against Nintendo. Whatever they do, by creating an equivalent product (unlikely), they will double their own pre-paid services to keep users in their ecosystem (probable) and even extend these services to Nintendo's base to expand their earnings (very unlikely ). It is clear that Switch is something that Sony will take into account in its other plans to keep their console out of oblivion, but the gaming industry within the PS4 just going forward.
